DiscussionCentral: Climate change: Enough science?

Posted by Sidney Draggan on September 8th, 2009

On SciDev.Net on 3 September 2009, climate change scientist Mike Hulme says, “Science may be able to prove that climate change is real but it is politics that will decide what we should do about it.”

In addition, he notes that:

Climate change raises many questions about development goals and practices. These can only be resolved through widespread social deliberation and hard political negotiation. Simply more or ‘better’ science won’t be enough.

The idea that humans are changing the global climate system was first developed, elaborated and demonstrated by natural scientists. The scientific evidence backing this basic idea is now overwhelming, even if scientific predictions of future climate changes are still shrouded in uncertainty.

But although science is very good at revealing how things are, and suggesting what physical manifestations might follow a particular course of action, it has limited relevance and reach when deciding what should be done in the face of complex dilemmas — such as climate change.

Yes, we have enough science. The whole “global warming” theory is DISPROOFED [spelling incorrect].

Ui ui ui, spelling incorrect! Uhhhhh!
But in your theory everything in incorrect.

    Climate Fact
Japan’s Mt. Zao is famous for its “ice monsters”, which are coniferous trees enveloped in ice that resemble animals and humans. A 1.8 degree Fahrenheit warming over the last 30 years has melted the “monsters” that “live” below 5,100 feet in elevation, reducing their range by 25 percent.

    Ohhhhh….the ice monsters….
Let’s destroy our economy to protect the ice monsters!!!

I believe tat us humans are enhancing global waring which is inevitable due to the natural cycle the earth goes through.

I also believe that to fight global warming effectively the first thing that needs to get done is to protect the rain forest which cleans out the co2 in the air. Why don’t they try and save the rain forest?

Instead we have to drive smaller cars etc.

Global warming has not been disproved by science or at least I am not aware that it has. Care to share where you saw that global warming has been disproved?

Global Warming has definately not been disproved by science, quite the contrary. It isn’t a complete science by any means but one thing is for sure. It is happening.

I think we all need to think on this as mostly this is happening just because of us. All are talking about Global Warming but no one taking this seriously.
