2009: Year of Science
Posted by Sidney Draggan on October 29th, 2008Components of the National Academies have released a report advising the current presidential candidates on selection of high-level science and technology appointees (”Science and Technology for America’s Progress: Ensuring the Best Presidential Appointments in the New Administration“).
Elevating the importance of how the public understands science, the Coalition on the Public Understanding of Science (COPUS) is building the foundations of 2009 as The Year of Science.
With only little time until festivities begin (~60 Days Until Year of Science 2009…and Counting!), members of the scientific community are challenged to think about how they can leverage individual and collective efforts to provide opportunities for the general public to engage in and explore the process and nature of science in 2009.
